Hello, this is Sato from J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok. Here in Bangkok, a lot of people enjoy golfing – but many golfers suffer from shoulder tendonitis. In this article, I’ll talk about shoulder tendonitis and how you can get it treated.
.
What is shoulder tendonitis?
Shoulder tendonitis is an inflammation of the rotator cuff. It’s caused when fatigue builds up in your shoulder from repetitive lifting and rotating.
Inner muscles of the shoulder: the rotator cuff consists of four muscles. Together, they cover the humerus (arm bone).
Shoulder tendonitis is caused by overuse of the shoulder
Overuse can come from repetitive movements where you raise your arm above your head, such as golf swings, weightlifting, tennis serves and volleyball spikes.
You can get shoulder tendonitis if you overuse your shoulder.
Common symptoms of shoulder tendonitis
If you have shoulder tendonitis, you may experience pain in the shoulder when you:
extend the arm in the finish of a golf swing
lift your shoulder to take off a shirt
work on a computer
fold your arms
.

.
What is impingement syndrome?
Impingement syndrome is when the rotator cuff or subacromial bursa (the fluid-filled sac that protects your rotator cuff) is trapped or rubs (“impinges”) against the top outer edge of your shoulder blade (the acromion).
When you have impingement syndrome, it will be painful for you to raise your arm . You may also feel like something is caught in your shoulder.
.
Impingement syndrome is caused by overuse of the shoulder

Hello, this is Sato from J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic. In this post, I’m going to talk about treating shoulder rotator cuff injuries.
.
Many clients diagnosed with shoulder rotator cuff injury or rotator cuff tear at a hospital come to J-CLINIC for treatment or postoperative rehabilitation.
What is a shoulder rotator cuff injury?
A shoulder rotator cuff injury (including shoulder rotator cuff tears) is when the threads of the rotator cuff muscles (the inner muscles of the shoulder) are torn.
Some people think they have a frozen shoulder but are then diagnosed at the hospital as having a rotator cuff injury, usually after an MRI.
Common causes of shoulder rotator cuff injury
Shoulder rotator cuff injuries are commonly caused by
• age-related changes: as we age, the shoulder rotator cuff becomes more brittle and more easily damaged
• trauma, such as falling and landing on your shoulder or your outstretched hand, carrying a heavy object
• overuse in sports (such as golf, baseball) and work (such as hairdressing, carpentering)
.
Common symptoms of shoulder rotator cuff injury
When you have a shoulder rotator cuff injury, you may
be unable to raise your arm forward or up, such as when doing housework
wake up at night from pain or be unable to turn over
experience pain when swinging down on a golf swing

Postoperative rehabilitation of shoulder rotator cuff tears
Some patients come to our clinic for rehabilitation after surgery for their shoulder rotator cuff tear.
Rehabilitation is important! Without postoperative rehabilitation, you may be left with a limited range of motion in your shoulder or with discomfort.
Strengthening the inner shoulder muscles (rotator cuff) using a TheraBand.
At J-CLINIC, we use manual and electro therapy to help relieve your shoulder-joint pain and increase your range of motion. We also teach you exercises that will build flexibility and strength in the rotator cuff muscles.
Teaching self-care exercises using massage balls to keep the muscles around the shoulder flexible. When the muscles around your shoulder are stiff, it can put undue stress on the injured area. This can slow recovery and cause pain in other parts of the body, as you try to shield the injured shoulder.
TheraBands and massage balls are available at our clinic.
