However, if you are treated at our acupuncture and Chinese medicine department, we can only issue a certificate from a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM doctor).

Please see below for more information and contact us if you have further questions.

Acupuncture and moxibustion

Q. What are acupuncture and moxibustion?

Acupuncture involves inserting very thin needles in specific points (acupuncture points) on the body, while moxibustion involves placing and burning moxa (a type of herb) on the acupuncture points. Both acupuncture and moxibustion stimulate the body’s natural healing power to address your symptoms and reduce discomfort.

If appropriate for your symptoms, we may also pass weak, low-frequency electrical currents through the needles, which passively moves your deep muscles and alleviates tension.

背中に鍼を打たれている女性
We use disposable, thin needles (0.1 mm for facial treatments and 0.16 to 0.25 mm for body treatments) and Japanese-style needles that cause minimal pain.

Q. I am taking blood thinners to prevent heart attacks. Can I receive acupuncture treatment?

You cannot get acupuncture at J-CLINIC if you take certain vascular or blood disorder medications. Although bleeding from acupuncture is rare, these medications may lower your ability to form scabs and place you at a higher risk of bleeding.

You cannot get acupuncture at J-CLINIC if you take any of the following:

– anticoagulants (prescribed for arterial and venous thrombosis)

  • dabigatran
  • warfarin
  • rivaroxaban
  • apixaban
  • heparin

– antiplatelet drugs (prescribed for arterial disease)

  • aspirin
  • clopidogrel

– thrombolytics (prescribed for arterial and venous thrombosis)

  • streptokinase
  • reteplase
  • alteplase
  • tenecteplase

Who cannot get acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, or Chinese medicine prescriptions

You cannot receive treatment if you have any of the following diseases or conditions. (For restrictions to physiotherapy, please refer to the physical therapy department FAQ .)

Treatment methods People with the following cannot be treated
Acupuncture Acute febrile illness[1], acute infectious disease, cancer[2] and other malignant tumors, peritonitis, appendicitis, bleeding disorders, trauma[3] (injuries, fractures, dislocations), vascular diseases[5] (aneurysms, severe arteriosclerosis), blood disorders[5] (hemophilia, coagulation disorders), pregnancy[6], acute sepsis, infected wounds, metal allergies, presence of implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers[7]
Cupping therapy Acute febrile illness[1], acute infectious disease, cancer[2] and other malignant tumors, peritonitis, appendicitis, bleeding disorders, trauma[3] (injuries, fractures, dislocations), nephritis, vascular diseases (aneurysms, severe arteriosclerosis), blood disorders (hemophilia, coagulation disorders), pregnancy, acute sepsis, infected wounds, bloodborne infections such as hepatitis B or HIV
Gua sha Acute febrile illness[1], acute infectious disease, cancer[2] and other malignant tumors, peritonitis, appendicitis, bleeding disorders, trauma[3] (injuries, fractures, dislocations), nephritis, vascular diseases (aneurysms, severe arteriosclerosis), blood disorders (hemophilia, coagulation disorders), pregnancy[4], acute sepsis, infected wounds, bloodborne infections such as hepatitis B or HIV
Herbal medicine Acute infectious diseases, cancer[8] and other malignant tumors, peritonitis, appendicitis, bleeding disorders, vascular diseases (aneurysms, severe arteriosclerosis), blood disorders (hemophilia, coagulation disorders), acute sepsis, infected wounds

[1] If you have a temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius or higher, you cannot receive treatment. If your fever is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, even if your temperature is below 38.5 degrees, you cannot be treated at J-CLINIC. In some cases (for example, your fever is due to stress or overwork), treatment may be possible; please consult your doctor or therapist.

[2] Treatment enhances blood and lymph flow and may increase the risk of the cancer metastasizing.

[3] You cannot get treatment on the injury site and surrounding areas, but can be treated on other parts of your body.

[4] Once you are in your second trimester you can receive treatment, except on the abdomen and lower back.

[5] If you take certain vascular or blood disorder medications, you cannot receive acupuncture. Please see the question above “Q. I am taking blood thinners to prevent heart attacks. Can I receive acupuncture treatment?

[6] As a rule, we do not perform acupuncture if you are pregnant. However, once you are in your second trimester, you can get facial acupuncture (but not electroacupuncture). For conditions like morning sickness or breech presentation, treatment is primarily through moxibustion, but low-stimulation acupuncture may be performed depending on your condition (treatment will not be done on the abdomen or lower back).

[7] You can get acupuncture but not electroacupuncture.

[8] Herbal medicines may be prescribed to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or to bolster physical strength after surgery.

Please consult your doctor or therapist if you have high or low blood pressure or any concerns about existing illnesses or your medical history.

Q. Can I receive treatment while I am menstruating?

You can receive acupuncture treatment during your menstrual period. Acupuncture can relieve symptoms of PMS and menstrual pain.

Cupping: It is best to avoid cupping during the first 3 days of your period. It is okay after the 4th day.

Herbal saunas should be avoided if your body is hot or you feel flushed.

Q. I want to treat my frozen shoulder with acupuncture.

For frozen shoulder, we often propose combining acupuncture with physiotherapy treatment (manual therapy and ultrasound treatment).

Acupuncture stimulates the affected area and improves blood flow, which gives you better range of motion and pain relief. However, the pain may be due to misalignment/distortions in your body, which is better addressed by physical therapy. Therefore, we recommend combining acupuncture with physical therapy treatment.

We’ll first ask in detail about your pain and examine your movement, range of motion, and the depth of your pain. Based on that, we’ll propose a treatment plan aimed at the root cause of your pain.

Q. Can you treat tinnitus?

Yes, we can treat tinnitus. Many of our patients come for acupuncture when their tinnitus medicines don’t work or when hospital exams don’t find anything wrong.

Often, the tinnitus is caused by a deterioration of blood flow around the ear from excessive stress or stiff shoulders, and from aging.

Acupuncture is used to relax the muscles around the ears and the connected muscles in the neck and shoulders. Acupuncture on the limbs, abdomen, and back will further improve blood flow in the body.

When you make an appointment, please let us know how long you have had tinnitus. If it’s been more than 3 months since the tinnitus began, it may be more difficult to cure or take longer to heal.

Facial acupuncture

Q. Can I get facial acupuncture if I’m pregnant?
Yes, you can get acupuncture (but not electroacupuncture) once you are in your second trimester. Because the body is in a delicate state in the early stages of pregnancy, we do not perform facial acupuncture on pregnant women who are in their first trimester.

Q. Can I get laser blemish-removal treatment* a few days after I get facial acupuncture? I’ll be traveling to Bangkok for a week and hope to get both while I’m there.

While you probably can get laser blemish-removal treatment one or two days after facial acupuncture, we would prefer to advise you based on your skin condition after the facial acupuncture treatment.

Also, depending on the type of laser, it may be best to wait one or two weeks after laser treatment before undergoing facial acupuncture to allow the skin to recover before treatment.

*We do not offer laser treatment.

Cupping

Q. What is cupping treatment?

For cupping, we put alcohol inside glass cups, ignite it, and then quickly apply the cups to the body surface, creating a vacuum inside. This draws stagnant blood (stasis) to the surface and improves blood circulation.

Cupping can be effective in cleansing blood, promoting blood circulation, and eliminating waste products. It can help alleviate symptoms caused by poor blood circulation, such as stiff shoulders, back pain, swelling, fatigue, headaches, and autonomic imbalance.

You can watch a video of the treatment.

Q. Is the cupping therapy at J-CLINIC dry cupping?

J-CLINIC can perform both dry and wet cupping.

However, for wet cupping, the doctor will examine your constitution and symptoms before deciding whether or not to perform the procedure.

Gua sha

Q. What kind of treatment is gua sha?

In gua sha, we stroke your skin along the meridians and acupuncture points with a smooth tool made of jade and animal horn. This therapy improves your blood and lymph circulation.

  • Facial gua sha activates your facial muscles, improves your cells’ metabolic efficiency, and adjusts the balance of moisture and oil under your skin. It can also counter the dark circles under your eyes.
  • Body massage with gua sha relieves stiff neck and shoulders, headaches, migraines, and other symptoms.

Q. Can I get gua sha massage on the head only?

Yes, you can get gua sha massage on your head only. For head-only gua sha, we do not use oil.

When you make an appointment, please let us know of any symptoms you are suffering from. For example, if you would like gua sha massage to treat a headache, we may recommend that you have a neck massage as well as a head massage.

Gua sha massage

Gua sha massage costs 800B / session (30 minutes).

* For first-time patients, there is also an initial consultation fee of 500B.

Herbal medicine

Q. My body feels good with the herbal medicine I was prescribed last time. Can you prescribe the same one?

Even if you feel better on your current Chinese herbal medicine or feel that it is right for your body, we still ask that you undergo a medical interview before we prescribe more medicine. There may be changes in your body that you’re not aware of. Even the seasons can affect your physical condition.

The doctor of traditional Chinese medicine will check for changes in your physical condition by examining your pulse and tongue and fine-tune the formula.

漢方薬の生薬、粉末剤、粉末剤をお湯に溶かしたものがカップに入っている
The herbal medicine we prescribe is in powder form, made from the extract of crude drugs. We can prescribe enough for one to two weeks at a time, according to your symptoms.

Q. I have ulcerative colitis. Can it be treated with herbal medicine and acupuncture?

Yes, it can be treated. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can help reduce your symptoms and prevent the condition from becoming chronic.

We will examine your body type and overall health condition and prescribe herbal medicines to ease your symptoms and improve your general health.

Acupuncture can

  • improve your digestion
  • ease your symptoms by balancing your autonomic nervous system
  • improve blood flow

You can get these treatments at J-CLINIC even if you’re taking medicines prescribed by other doctors. However, please first inform your J-CLINIC doctor about your current medications.

The effects of acupuncture and herbal medicine vary from person to person, depending on the person’s body type and health condition. Whether you receive acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine, or both will be decided after our doctor of traditional Chinese medicine examines you and discusses a treatment plan with you.

Patients taking steroid medications can experience an improvement in their symptoms through acupuncture and herbal medicine treatment. Because of this, we see some patients reduce their steroid medicines. However, stopping medications improperly can worsen symptoms. Always consult with your hospital doctor or our traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Do not make the change on your own.

Treatment during pregnancy and postpartum

Q. Can I get acupuncture if I’m pregnant?
No, you cannot get regular acupuncture treatment if you are pregnant. For treating hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy) and breech baby, we mainly use moxibustion. However, depending on your condition, low-stimulus acupuncture may be used (not on the abdomen).

Fertility

Q. Do you provide fertility treatment?

Yes, we offer fertility treatment through acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, based on traditional Chinese medicine. We help you improve your physical condition so your body can become “ready for pregnancy.”

We also offer acupuncture and moxibustion treatment aimed at improving the pregnancy rate for those who are undergoing artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, and ICSI treatment at fertility hospitals and clinics.

* If you have fertility issues, we recommend that you see a fertility specialist. The specialist can teach you how to make a basal body temperature chart and test your cervical mucus. They can also administer tests like general semen analysis and postcoital test (Sims-Huhner test) and do a hysterosalpingogram and transvaginal ultrasound to see if there are any causes of infertility from a Western medical perspective. (These tests are not available at J-CLINIC.)
If you feel unwell after treatment

If you feel unwell after treatment

Q. I had acupuncture 3 hours ago, and now I feel tired. What should I do?

After acupuncture or cupping, some people may feel tired or sleepy, or get a fever. If you experience any of these, please drink plenty of water and rest to help you recover naturally.
These symptoms may be triggered because the treatment activates sluggish cells, improves lymph and blood circulation, and causes rapid changes in the body as waste and fatigue toxins are discharged all at once.

People more likely to experience these symptoms include those who are sensitive to stimulation, have low physical strength, or have been chronically ill and are receiving treatment for the first time or after a long break.

Q. I feel sore in the area where I received acupuncture. Is this okay?

Yes, this is normal and no cause for worry. When acupuncture is performed on tense muscles, you may feel tightness or pain, but this sensation typically disappears naturally a few hours after the needles are removed.

Q. I have small bruises where I received acupuncture. Is this okay?

Yes, this is normal and no cause for worry. With acupuncture, you may experience bruising at the needle site, depending on your constitution, physical condition, and needle placement. The bruises typically fade and disappear within 1 to 2 weeks.

Physical therapy treatments

Q. When I bend my knee, the area around my knee cap hurts. A doctor told me that ultrasound treatment would help. Can I have just ultrasound treatment?

To treat pain around the knee cap, we combine ultrasound treatment with manual therapy.

This is because pain around the knee cap is often due to a misalignment between the ankle and hip joint. While ultrasound therapy can relieve pain and improve your knee’s range of motion, manual therapy will help bring your ankle and hip joint back into correct alignment and thus tackle the root cause of the pain.

Q. If I have a sprain, what kind of exam and treatment will I get at J-CLINIC?

We recommend you come to our physical therapy department, where you will be examined and treated as follows:

1. Musculoskeletal ultrasound exam and palpation

足首にエコー検査のプローブがあてられている
You will be examined with ultrasound and by touch (palpation) to identify your injured ligaments or tendons.

2. Electric therapy (combined high-voltage therapy and ultrasound therapy)

捻挫した足首に電気治療をしている
With our state-of-the-art combination therapy machine, you will be treated using (1) high-voltage electricity to relax tension in your surface muscle layers and (2) ultrasound to unravel the deep muscles that cannot be reached by hand.

3. Manual therapy
The muscles, joints, and tendons surrounding your sprain may be sore from shielding the sprained area. The tension in the area will be loosened with manual therapy (massage), which will also speed up your recovery.

4. Taping, supporter

Before you come to J-CLINIC

  • Medical examinations

If the hospital doctor determines that there is damage to the soft tissues (such as skin, fat tissue, fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels), they may perform additional scans like a CT or MRI. J-CLINIC does not offer CT or MRI scans. If you are not sure whether your shoulder is dislocated, you can get an X-ray at J-CLINIC to check the injury. If the X-ray confirms a dislocation or other problem, we strongly recommend you visit a hospital immediately. X-ray examinations are available at the J-CLINIC Ekkamai branch (reservation required).

  • Medical treatment

We can also show you exercises and self-care tips you can use at home so you don’t dislocate your shoulder again.

Before you come to J-CLINIC

  • Medical examinations
If you suspect you broke your bone, please get examined at a hospital first. There, they will perform an X-ray scan. Swelling, redness, or severe pain may mean your bone is fractured or broken, or you may have a ligament tear. Q. Do you offer chiropractic services?

No, we do not offer chiropractic services.

We do not have a chiropractor on staff at J-CLINIC. However, we offer physical therapy and acupuncture services with doctors, physical therapists, Chinese medicine practitioners, and Thai traditional medicine specialists.

Acupuncture

Q. I want to treat my frozen shoulder with acupuncture.

For frozen shoulder, we often propose combining acupuncture with physical therapy treatment (manual therapy and ultrasound treatment).

Treatment during pregnancy and postpartum

Q. I am 8 months pregnant and my lower back aches. Can I get treatment?

Yes, you can get treatment. We use manual therapy to ease tension in your muscles and balance the left and right sides of the body in order to reduce the burden on the affected area and relieve pain.

We do not use electrotherapy to treat the abdomen or lower back during pregnancy. However, electrotherapy can be used for neck and shoulder pain and leg injuries.

If you have any concerns, please check with your obstetrician whether you can receive physiotherapy treatment, before making an appointment at J-CLINIC.

Patients with the following illnesses or symptoms are not eligible for physiotherapy treatment at J-CLINIC. (For restrictions on acupuncture treatment, please see our acupuncture, moxibustion, and Chinese medicine FAQ.)

Treatment methods People with the following cannot be treated
Manual therapy (massage) Acute febrile illness[1], acute infectious disease, cancer[2] and other malignant tumors, peritonitis, appendicitis, bleeding disorders, trauma[3] (injuries, fractures, dislocations), nephritis, vascular disease (aneurysms, severe arteriosclerosis), blood disorders (hemophilia, coagulation disorders), infected wounds, acute sepsis
Electrical therapy (ultrasound, EMS, interference waves) Cancer[2] and other malignant tumors, presence of implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, history of epilepsy, pregnancy[4], heart problems, areas with sensory loss, infected wounds, acute sepsis, trauma[3] (injuries, fractures, dislocations)

[1] If you have a temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius or higher, you cannot receive treatment. Even if the fever is below 38.5 degrees, if your fever is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, you cannot be treated at J-CLINIC.

Q. I gave birth 1 month ago. Can I receive postpartum pelvic correction?

Generally speaking, you can get the pelvic correction course from 1.5 months after vaginal birth or 2 or 3 months after a Cesarean section, depending on your condition.

Some patients do come for physical therapy less than 1.5 months postpartum for symptoms such as severe postpartum back pain or fatigue in the neck and shoulder areas from taking care of the baby. Please contact J-CLINIC if you wish to receive treatment.

J-CLINIC’s pelvic correction using blocks

A therapist wedges a triangular cushion under the hips of a patient lying face down.
The pelvis is gently and painlessly corrected using a block and the patient’s body weight.

If you feel unwell after treatment

Q. I just had a treatment, but I feel tired. What should I do?

Drink plenty of water and get rest, and you will recover naturally.

Some patients may experience fatigue, drowsiness, or fever after manual therapy or electrotherapy. This is because the treatment activates sluggish cells, improves lymph and blood circulation, and causes rapid changes in the body as waste and fatigue toxins are discharged all at once.

People more likely to experience these symptoms include those who are sensitive to stimulation, have low physical strength, or have been chronically ill and are receiving treatment for the first time or after a long break. You will recover naturally, but please make sure to drink enough water and rest.

Q. I had a massage yesterday, and now I feel sore in the muscles where I was massaged. What should I do?

We may use massage to stimulate deep muscles to ease your symptoms, and this can cause muscle soreness in some patients. However, there’s no need to worry as the soreness will disappear on its own in a few days.

If during the treatment you feel that the massage is too strong, please let the practitioner know so that they can adjust the intensity.

Q. I had a massage yesterday, and today, I have some bruises on spots where I was massaged. What should I do?

A. The bruises will disappear naturally, within 1-2 weeks. If you want it to heal quickly, apply a cold compress to the bruise the day it appears and the day after.

Bruising can occur if your capillaries (the very thin and delicate blood vessels found throughout your body) are weak and are damaged by the massage.

What if my child sprains their ankle at a trampoline park? | J-CLINIC Physical therapy

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

Recently, we’ve been receiving many inquiries from parents whose child who got hurt while playing on the trampoline and needed treatment.

トランポリンで膝を曲げながら高く飛ぶ人
Trampolining is a popular sport for both adults and children.

Common trampoline injuries

Trampolining is fun—who doesn’t enjoy jumping high and floating in the air?

トランポリンパークで飛んでいる女の子
And continuous jumping uses all the muscles in your body and gives you an excellent aerobic workout.

But trampolining can also easily lead to injuries. If you haven’t mastered the basic jumping techniques, you can strain your ankles and knees. In this article, I’ll talk about common trampoline injuries, how to treat them, and how to prevent them.

Common injuries from trampolining include

  • Missing a landing and twisting your ankle

  • Landing on a spring frame and injuring your ankle or knee

  • Bumping into someone, falling over, and hurting your neck or back

  • Falling over from a mistimed jump and landing on and hurting your wrist

The most common trampoline injury: Sprains

The most common trampoline injury among patients who come to our clinic is sprains.

捻挫をしたときの関節、筋肉、骨の状況
Many of our clients tell us, “It’s just a sprain, so I thought it would heal if I put a compress on it.” But if you’ve twisted your ankle hard, the ankle ligaments may be torn or partially damaged. So it’s important to receive treatment as soon as possible.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound exam and palpation: You will be examined with ultrasound and by touch (palpation) to identify your injured ligaments or tendons.

Treating sprains at J-CLINIC

J-CLINIC will treat your sprains with ultrasound/high-voltage therapy, manual therapy and taping, and give you rehab guidance.

Ultrasound/high-voltage therapy to relieve pain

捻挫した足首に電気治療をしている
We’ll relieve your pain with a combination of (1) high-voltage electricity to loosen tension in the superficial muscles and (2) ultrasound to relax the deeper muscles that can’t be reached by hand.

This combination therapy also repairs cells and is one of the most popular forms of care used by professional athletes.

Manual therapy and taping

We use massage to loosen muscle tension around the ankle. Taping then immobilizes the ankle, which will speed up the healing process.

Taping

捻挫をした人にしたテーピング治療
We especially recommend taping for children, as they tend to have a hard time staying off their feet.

Training and self-care guidance

After the pain subsides, we’ll show you exercises to do at home and self-care tips to prevent repeat injuries.

ふくらはぎの怪我のリハビリをしている人
Strengthening your shin and calf muscles to help prevent future sprains. Stand on your toes and then lower your heels. Repeat. If you put a Pilates ball between your knees while doing this exercise, you can strengthen your inner thigh muscles at the same time.

ふくはぎの怪我をした人がバンドを使ってリハビリをしている
Using a Thera-Band to stretch and strengthen your shin and calf muscles. Like the above exercise, this will help prevent future sprains.

マッサージボールでふくらはぎをケアする人
Using massage balls to soften the Achilles tendon. Greater flexibility in your Achilles tendons will increase your ankle’s range of motion and make it harder to sprain your foot.

How to avoid injury on the trampoline

Here are some things you can do to avoid injuries on the trampoline.

  • Warm up: Before jumping, stretch your lower body. Rotate your ankles and stretch your Achilles tendon.
  • Learn the correct posture and style for jumping. Keep your posture upright when jumping. Beginners should first learn to jump up straight, landing in the same spot that they took off.
  • Train the muscles of the lower body. Especially strengthen your shin and calf muscles to ensure a stable landing.

Start by practicing to jump straight up.

First aid for sprains

If you suffer a sprain, icing is the first step in first aid. Icing will help you recover quickly.

And remember the basic first aid “RICE”.

If you are at a trampoline park, it might be a good idea to take a lesson with an instructor the first time. Learn how to jump correctly and enjoy trampolining without getting hurt!

If you suffer from sprains or other foot injuries in Bangkok, get in touch with us by phone, Contact form or Facebook.

Combining ultrasound and electrical stimulation for pain relief in Bangkok | J-CLINIC Physical therapy treatment

Hi, this is Kik from J-CLINIC Thonglor branch in Bangkok.

Today, I’m going to introduce you to our ultrasound and high-voltage therapy.

超音波治療器のプローブを肩にあてている
ultrasound and high-voltage therapy

As an effective way to relieve pain, it’s popular among people suffering pain from injuries and chronic back pain.

What is “ultrasound/high-voltage therapy”?

Ultrasound/high-voltage therapy is a combination therapy that uses (1) high-voltage electricity to loosen up superficial muscle tension and (2) ultrasound to relax the deeper muscles that can’t be reached by hand.

Many of the world’s top athletes use this type of electrotherapy after their daily practice, as part of their conditioning program.

What results can you expect?

Ultrasound/high-voltage therapy accelerates cell repair. It speeds up the healing of injuries and helps to relieve pain.

Benefits of ultrasound/high voltage therapy
Benefits of ultrasound/high voltage therapy

What symptoms can be treated?

Ultrasound/high-voltage therapy is effective for treating sprained backs, chronic shoulder stiffness, frozen shoulders, sciatica, tendonitis, sprains, and pulled muscle(torn muscle), as well as for rehabilitation after surgery.

It’s also suitable for treating Osgood disease, shin splints, and various sports injuries common among both children and adults.

What are the key features of ultrasound/high-voltage therapy?

The combination therapy can treat deep muscles that can’t be reached by hand.

It’s also more efficient because it can apply two kinds of stimuli to the problem spots.

How is it combined with manual therapy?

Using high-performance treatment alone is good, but combining it with manual therapy can make the treatment even more effective.

Professional development: To make sure you get the best treatment, we pay attention to continually improving our therapists’ technique.

Motion & manipulation therapy combines manual techniques with electrotherapy and uses movement to loosen up joints with a reduced range of motion. Trigger points can be treated more quickly with this method.

Sprained playing soccer! Ligament damage

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

Today, I’m going to talk about N, an 11-year-old boy who sprained his ankle playing soccer.

Ankle sprains are scarier than you think

Many people who’ve sprained their ankles say they thought they could just put a poultice on it and it would heal. But if the ankle has been twisted hard, the ankle ligaments may be torn or partially damaged.

A picture of sprain
Torn or damaged ligaments need to be treated early. Without treatment, the ankle joint may not return to its healthy state and remain unstable.

N sprained his foot while landing from a jumping header

When jumping to head the ball during a practice soccer game, N collided with an opponent. He lost his balance and landed hard on a twisted left foot.

N’s symptoms

  • Severe pain in the ankle
  • Severe swelling
  • Bruising due to internal bleeding
  • Swelling of the inner and outer the ankle
  • Difficulty going up and down the stairs
  • Unable to put weight on the left leg because of the pain

J-CLINIC’s diagnosis

N injured the anterior talofibular ligament from twisting his foot strongly inward when landing from a jump.

Treatment to relieve pain and repair tissue

N wanted to participate in a soccer tournament in one month’s time, so we aimed for an early recovery with treatment based on electrotherapy.

1.Microcurrent therapy to repair the tissue (weak-current therapy)

The electric current flowing through the human body is called the “biological current.” Microcurrent therapy uses a weak electric current similar to the biological current and is effective in repairing tissues and enabling early recovery from injuries and pain. It’s commonly used in the sports world.

2.Ultrasound/high-voltage therapy to relieve pain

Pain is effectively relieved through combined use of (1) high-voltage electricity to loosen tension in the superficial muscles and (2) ultrasound to relax the deeper muscles that can’t be reached by hand. The combination therapy also repairs cells and is one of the most popular forms of care used by professional athletes.

捻挫した足首に電気治療をしている
Ultrasound/high-voltage therapy

In addition to electrotherapy, we used massage to loosen the tension in N’s muscles around the ankle. We also immobilized his ankle with taping and support.

N competed in the soccer tournament while undergoing treatment

N came to the clinic every day for the first four days, and by the fourth day, he recovered enough to be able to walk normally.
After the pain eased, N underwent rehab to increase his range of motion in the joints that had stiffened from been immobilized. He also did strength training targeting those muscles weakened by the injury.

Two weeks later, he was jogging and a month later, N was able to participate in the soccer tournament as he had hoped.

Causes of N’s left ankle sprain

Some root issues made N’s injury more likely:

  • Insufficient core muscle strength
  • Insufficient strength in the quadriceps muscle (especially of the left leg, N being righthanded)
  • Inflexibility in the leg muscle groups

In the later stages of treatment, we taught N exercises and stretches to strengthen those muscles and improve his flexibility to prevent a recurrence. We also adjusted the balance of his body.

Ankle sprains: Common among athletes

In sports such as basketball, soccer, and gymnastics, ankle injuries are said to be the second most common injury after knee injuries.

If you take sprains lightly and don’t get proper treatment and rehabilitation, you may be left with pain or ankle instability. Ankle pain may also strain other parts of your body, which may then show up as knee, hip, or back pain. These will keep you from performing at your best.

RICE procedure, then treatment

Initial treatment of a sprain is very important.

A illustration of the RICE procedure
The RICE procedure is a good first-aid treatment for sprains.

The longer it takes to get proper treatment, the slower the sprain will heal and the longer the treatment will take. So do see a medical professional as soon as possible!

(English) Self-test : Is your headache caused by muscle tension & body distortion?

Self-test : Is your headache caused by muscle tension & body distortion?

Hi, this is Ble from the J-CLINIC Phromphong branch in Bangkok.

Last time, I talked about a patient who was suffering from headaches due to stiff shoulders and tension in the muscles around the back and scapula. (Link to the former blog)

What about your headaches? If you say “yes” to even one of the following, your headaches may be due to muscle tension or body distortions.

Self-test checklist

☐ I regularly take painkillers but the pain doesn’t go away
☐ I get a headache when my neck is stiff
☐ I get headaches before it rains
☐ The back of my eyes feel dull and heavy
☐ I went to the hospital to be checked but was told nothing was wrong
☐ I have a headache more than once a week
☐ My temples throb
☐ The base of my neck gets rock hard
☐ I have a hard time falling asleep and wake up in the middle of the night.

Did any of them apply to you?

Headache-related symptoms include sleep disorders, autonomic nervous symptoms such as vertigo, tinnitus, lightheadedness, and brain diseases. It’s better to have it properly treated and to not ignore it as “just a headache.”

For headaches caused by muscular tension and distortions, J-CLINIC uses deep-tissue massage and high-voltage electric therapy to relieve the tension and bring the body back to balance. We also give exercise guidance and lifestyle advice so that your headaches do not recur.

Post-surgery rehabilitation at J-CLINIC

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

Today, I will talk about post-surgery rehabilitation. At J-CLINIC, we offer rehabilitation therapy after you have such surgeries as for herniated discs (slipped disc) or for knee injuries like anterior cruciate ligament injuries and meniscal tears.

A picture of surgery
For these types of injuries, surgery is not the end of the story. You need rehabilitation to make sure that your problems don’t recur.

 Rehabilitation therapy at J-CLINIC

1. For pain or numbness in your affected areas, you’ll get a deep tissue massage to relax the muscles and high-voltage electric therapy and acupuncture to ease your pain.

2. To help you regain your range of motion in the joints, you’ll undergo motion and manipulation therapy.

3. To improve weak or stiff muscles, you’ll be shown how to do exercises to increase strength and stretches to restore muscle and joint flexibility.

Manual therapy(Deep tissue massage)

J-CLINICの手技治療

Motion & manipulation (M&M)

膝関節の周辺の筋肉を緩める手技治療
Our unique treatment uses movement to help loosen muscles that have stiffened into ‘trigger points’. This method allows faster release of the trigger points, and is thus most effective for treating frozen shoulders and knee pains.

Acupuncture

膝に鍼治療をしている写真
Acupuncture improves blood flow to the stiff muscle tissue that is causing you pain and limiting your range of motion. The improved blood flow will flush out the pain-producing substances collecting in the stiff areas. It also relieves tension in joints and muscle ligaments, giving you better a range of motion and relief from pain.

Ultrasound and high voltage therapy

Details of our physical therapy treatment

Your treatment will be adjusted to match your condition through the initial, middle, and final recovery phases.

A patient case: Rehabilitation after disc hernia surgery

Six months ago, Mr. E (male, in his 40s) suffered disc herniation and underwent surgery on his 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae.

By the time he decided to consult J-CLINIC, Mr. E was also experiencing numbness from his right buttock to the right hamstring.

After being discharged from the hospital, Mr. E went back to work. But over the next two months, his back pain gradually returned.

Mr. E told us, “I want to get rid of the pain and numbness and become physically strong enough to handle sitting for long periods of time.” We created his treatment plan based on these goals.

By the end of the three months, Mr. E ‘graduated’ from rehabilitation.

Mr. E came to J-CLINIC twice a week for two months, after which he continued therapy and rehabilitation once a week for a month.

He continues to regularly stretch and do his strength-building exercises at home, while dropping by J-CLINIC for maintenance treatment a few times a month.

If you’re considering post-surgery rehabilitation for your lower back and knees in Bangkok, do contact us 🙂

What causes herniated discs and back pain? | J-CLINIC Physical therapy treatment

Hello, this is Kik from the J-CLINIC  in Bangkok. Today, I will talk about J-CLINIC’s treatment for a patient suffering from post-natal back pain, who came to us after being diagnosed at a hospital as having a herniated disc(slipped disc, disc herniation).

A patient case

Since giving birth, Ms. R (37 years old, 3 years in Thailand) felt distortion in her pelvis, but because the pain wasn’t strong, she left it untreated.

One year later, Ms. R was struck with debilitating back pain that prevented her from standing up straight.

She had an MRI at a hospital, where she was diagnosed with a herniated disc.

The hospital treated her with medication (analgesics) and injections (e.g., nerve block injections), which temporarily reduced the pain. However, the pain returned, and Ms. R came to J-CLINIC for a second opinion.

Patient’s symptoms

At the time of her J-CLINIC visit, Ms. R:

  • Could only stand leaning towards the left side because of the pain
  • Had numbness on the back of both thighs
  • Found it difficult to sleep on her back or to walk

J-CLINIC’s diagnosis

We diagnosed Ms. R as suffering from back pain due to pelvic distortion and weakness of the abdominal muscles, rather than a herniated disc.

Not only does the pelvis open during childbirth, but it remains loosened afterwards because of the effects of hormones, which makes it easier to strain or injure muscles and ligaments.

With Ms. R, we believe her lower back was under great strain from the strenuous postures involved in holding a baby or changing diapers, while Ms. R’s abdominal muscles were weak and unable to provide adequate support.

In addition, Ms. R had hip-joint pain due to distortion of the pelvis.

Treatment

Given the causes, J-CLINIC’s treatment for Ms. R comprised:

  1. Deep-tissue massage to relax muscle tension and adjust body balance

  2. High-voltage electric therapy for pain relief

  3. Pelvic correction

  4. Taping to support the lower back

  5. Stretches for the hip-joint area

Deep-tissue massage

腰に超音波治療のプローブを当てている
High-voltage electric therapy

骨盤を矯正する理学療法士
Pelvic correction

Taping

Ms. R came to J-CLINIC once or twice a week for three months until she recovered.

As with herniated discs, most back pain arises from weakness of the abdominal muscles. Strengthening the inner and core muscles is indispensable to tackle the root cause of pain. For postpartum moms, returning the pelvis to the correct position early is another way to prevent back pain.

If you suffer from backaches in Bangkok, we invite you to get in touch with us by phone, contact form, Facebook.

Common problems for ballet dancers: Hip and knee joint pain

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

We see many ballet dancers at J-CLINIC, and a common complaint is pain in both the hip and knee joints. In this post, I will discuss the causes and treatments for such pain, based on an actual case.

A patient case

Twenty-year-old Ms. M has been dancing classical ballet for 10 years. Two months before a performance, she felt pain in her right hip.

Pain gradually began to appear also in her right knee, at which point she came to J-CLINIC for help.

J-CLINIC’s diagnosis

We checked Ms. M’s movements and pain and identified two causes of her hip pain.

(1) Overuse of her right leg

Because her left leg was weaker, Ms. M more often used the right leg as the pivot, which placed an extra burden on the right leg.

(2) Incorrect muscle use for internal and external leg rotation

Ms. M was using her muscles incorrectly to maintain leg turnout in the five basic ballet positions. This strained her right hip.

The knee pain was likely caused by the strain of shielding the right hip joint while dancing.

Given these causes, J-CLINIC’s treatment for Ms. M comprised:

Manual therapy(Deep tissue massage)

J-CLINICの手技治療
Deep-tissue massage to relax muscle tension and adjust your body balance

Motion & manipulation (M&M)

膝関節の周辺の筋肉を緩める手技治療
Motion & manipulation therapy to improve hip- and knee-joint motion.

膝に電気治療をするセラピストの写真
Ultrasound and high voltage therapy promotes cellular repair. It speeds up healing and relieves pain.

Advice on stretching and other exercises

ふくはぎの怪我をした人がバンドを使ってリハビリをしている
After the pain goes down, we will teach you exercises that you can do at home and self-care tips to prevent your injury from recurring.

Ms. M continued her ballet lessons for the two months leading up to her performance while being treated twice a week at J-CLINIC, and she was able to perform as planned.

In movements such as relevé, where a dancer goes up on her toes, the hips, knees, and ankles align themselves along the same axis, which makes it common for pain or strain in one area to trigger pain in another.

It’s therefore important to seek treatment as soon as possible if you have pain or discomfort in your body.

For many dancers and athletes, overuse and fatigue are common causes of injuries. You can also get fatigue recovery care at J-CLINIC before and after lessons and important performances, so please come over for a consultation!

Your stiff shoulders and headaches are caused by uneven shoulder blades?

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

Today, I’d like to introduce a case of a woman in her 30s suffering from stiff shoulders and headaches due to uneven shoulder blades (scapula).

A patient case

Ms. Y (37 years old, one year in Thailand) has been suffering shoulder pain and headaches since her 20s. When she used to work in an office, she often sat at her desk all day and experienced fatigue, shallow breathing, and difficulties falling asleep or sleeping well.

Although Ms. Y no longer works long hours at the desk since moving to Bangkok with her husband, the frequent shoulder pain and headaches have returned, forcing her to rely on painkillers.

J-CLINIC’s diagnosis

The misalignment tensed multiple muscles attached to the shoulder blades, causing stiff shoulders and headaches. In addition, the uneven shoulders affected her posture and distorted her pelvis.

The main cause of Ms. Y’s symptoms was her uneven shoulders, where the right shoulder blade was not aligned with the left.

Because her poor posture restricted the movement of her rib cage, Ms. Y could only take shallow breaths, limiting her oxygen intake. The resulting oxygen deficiency most likely triggered symptoms related to the autonomic nervous system, such as insomnia.

Given the causes, J-CLINIC’s treatment for Ms. Y comprised:

1. Moiré topography to check posture distortions
2. Massage to relax muscle tension
3. High-voltage electric therapy for pain relief
4. Motion & manipulation therapy to improve the motion of her shoulder blades
5. Advice on stretching and other exercises

Moiré topography

超音波治療器のプローブを肩にあてている
High-voltage electric therapy

With treatment, Ms. Y’s stiff shoulders and headaches have eased. She hardly needs painkillers, and she sleeps well at night. Ms. Y continues with maintenance treatment a few times a month while doing stretches regularly at home.

Advice on stretching

Regularly moving the shoulder blades with the right stretches can:

  • Prevent stiff shoulders and frozen shoulders

  • Improve performance in sports such as golf

  • Improve posture

  • Create a beautiful back

If you stay in the same position for a long time, the muscles attached to the shoulder blades will tense, causing pain in the neck, shoulders, and back. When doing desk work or studying, we recommend that you take frequent breaks and do stretches for your shoulder blades.

Treating VDT syndrome with physical therapy and acupuncture

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

Do you ever work on a computer all day at the office, only to watch YouTube late at night at home with blurred eyes, stiff neck and shoulders, and headaches?

What is VDT syndrome?

The group of physical and mental health problems caused by prolonged use of visual display terminals—i.e., smartphones, tablets, computers, and TVs—is called “visual display terminal (VDT) syndrome.”

In the past, people suffered from shoulder and neck pain caused by so-called office syndrome. But changes in modern lifestyle means that now more people are experiencing body and eye problems from visual display terminal syndrome.

Symptoms of VDT syndrome

Common symptoms of VDT syndrome include the following:

  • Eyestrain
Hyperemia (red eye) and pain, eyestrain, eyelid cramps, decreased vision, dry eyes, etc.

  • Body pain
Stiff neck and shoulders, fatigue. When these symptoms become chronic, they can lead to more serious conditions such as numbness in the fingers and the whole body.

  • Emotional effects
Tiredness, irritation, depressive symptoms, insomnia, lethargy, etc.

In particular, if you use your smartphone for a long time with improper postures—such as lying on your belly—the muscles around the neck become strained. This can trigger neck/shoulder pain, which can then cause a headache.

Here’s how J-CLINIC can treat VDT syndrome.

  • Physical therapy
    超音波治療の練習をする理学療法士
Massage and high-voltage electric therapy will remove neck stiffness and pain.

If you feel pain at the back or side of your head or at the back of your eyes, it may be because the shoulder blade or back is stiff. If that is the case, we’ll also show you exercises and stretches to prevent your body from becoming stiff.

It’s said that VDT syndrome is caused when you use visual display terminals while staying in the same posture and condition. We therefore recommend that for every hour of work at a visual display terminal, you take a break or stretch for 10 minutes.

Even when you know that using a smartphone, tablet or computer for a long time is not good, in reality, it can be hard to avoid it. So let’s minimize the harm while keeping our bodies and eyes in good repair.

Treating weight-training injuries in Bangkok

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

A fit body with muscles strengthened through weight training looks great.

A fit body with muscles strengthened through weight training looks great.

A fit body with muscles strengthened through weight training looks great.

But any imbalances that may arise between the outer and inner muscles can hurt the hips, shoulders, hip joints, and knees.

Today, I’d like to talk about J-CLINIC’s treatment for weight-training injuries, using an example of a client with pain in the left shoulder caused by bench presses.

Before we get to the case, let’s review what we mean by the outer and inner muscles.

Outer muscles

  • Outer muscles can be felt from the outside. They can be moved consciously.
  • You can strengthen outer muscles with weight training.

Because these muscles are on the outside, you can see the effects of workouts on your physique, which helps raise the motivation to train.

Inner muscles

  • Inner muscles lie deep inside the body.
  • They maintain posture and support the joints.

If you build only the outer muscles, they can overpower the inner muscles that are supporting your joints. The resulting strain can induce body pain.

Now let’s look at an actual case.

A patient case

For a week, though, he hasn’t been able to lift the barbell in bench presses; his arms felt weak, and it was painful. Outside the gym, too, he experienced strong pain whenever he raised his arms.

Mr. K (31 years old, male) has been muscle training at the gym three times a week for eight months.

J-CLINIC’s diagnosis

J-CLINIC diagnosed Mr. K’s condition as inflammation of the outer muscle (deltoid muscle and biceps brachii tendon).

J-CLINIC diagnosed Mr. K’s condition as inflammation of the outer muscle (deltoid muscle and biceps brachii tendon).

We identified the following at the root of Mr. K’s pain:

1. Weak inner muscles of the left shoulder joint

The inner muscles supporting the shoulder joint (shoulder rotator cuff muscles) were weak, straining the shoulder joint and inducing inflammation.

2. Limited range of motion of the scapula

Encouraged by the concrete results of his workouts, Mr. K was working hard on his biceps, latissimus, and pectoral muscles.

However, the increasingly larger outer muscle led Mr. K to stoop, restricting the adduction (inward movement) of the scapula, and preventing him from lifting his arm normally.

Scapula movement

The outer muscle exerts a lifting force, while the inner muscle absorbs the shock to the shoulder joint and holds together the arm and scapula. Both outer and inner muscles need to be strengthened in a balanced manner.

Given the causes, J-CLINIC’s treatment for Mr. K comprised:

  1. Massage to relax muscle tension

  2. High-voltage electric therapy for pain relief

  3. Motion & manipulation therapy to improve the motion of his left shoulder

  4. Advice on stretching and other exercises

Physical therapy for kendo practitioners in Bangkok

Hi, this is Sato from the J-CLINIC  in Bangkok.

Today, I’ll talk about common pain experienced by kendo practitioners, using an example case.

Although kendo is an intense martial art, some say it causes fewer injuries compared to other martial arts because practitioners—who use bamboo swords and wear protective gear—have less direct physical contact than, say, people who do karate.

However, kendo’s unique moves can strain and lead to pain in the Achilles tendon, knees, shoulders, and hips. For example:

  • Fast movements and strained postures place stress on the bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments.

  • Repetitive movements and excessive use of joints, muscles, and ligaments lead to accumulated fatigue.

  • Direct contact between bodies and bamboo swords causes injuries.

Let’s look at an actual case.

A patient case

She started to feel pain on the left side of her hips about a year after she started kendo, but didn’t think it was worth getting checked at the hospital.

Ms. L (28 years old, female) has been training in kendo for three years.

Gradually, pain in more areas began to bother her, and she decided to visit J-CLINIC.

She came to us with the following symptoms:

  • Pain in the right heel

  • Pain from the left Achilles tendon to the sole

  • Pain in the left ankle

These symptoms are typically caused by kendo’s “fumikomi” step.

Roughly translated as “stepping in,” fumikomi is a fast lunge. In this move, Ms. L pushes off with her left leg; her right foot lunges forward, stomping the ground. The right heel receives the full impact of contact with the ground.

This frequent, repetitive stomping was causing the pain in Ms. L’s right heel.

Her left leg, meanwhile, must push off each time with great force, stiffening Ms. L’s left hamstrings, hip muscles, and iliac muscles.

This was placing continuous stress on the sacroiliac joint, which serves as the axis of these muscles, causing pain in Ms. L’s left lower back.

Stepping off from the left leg also was straining the left ankle, triggering pain there.

Given the causes, J-CLINIC treated Ms. L with:

  1. Massage to relax muscle tension

  2. High-voltage electric therapy for pain relief

  3. Motion & manipulation therapy to improve his range of motion

  4. Advice on stretching and other exercises

In addition, we showed Ms. L ways to spot-train certain muscles. Specifically, building muscle strength in the leg and soles of her feet would help absorb the strain of rapid weight shifts and address the uneven distribution of weight on her feet.

We also suggested that Ms. L review her fumikomi form, so she can shift her weight without placing the whole burden on the left leg.

Besides treatment, J-CLINIC offers taping services to prevent knee and ankle injuries common to kendo.

Contact us for treatment of injuries, maintenance therapy, and optimizing your body for practice and competitions.

Treating frozen shoulder in Bangkok | J-CLINIC Physical therapy treatment

Hello, my name is Sato and I run J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic in Bangkok.

“I can’t lift my arms.” “My shoulder hurts, whether or not I move it.”

These are symptoms of frozen shoulder, an ailment that becomes more common as one reaches middle-age and above.

Today, I’ll talk about how J-CLINIC treats frozen shoulder, using an example of a client who couldn’t play golf anymore because of frozen shoulder.

If you have frozen shoulder, you might find that:

  • You can’t lift your arms as you’d like.

  • Your shoulder hurts.

  • You can’t reach your back with your arm.

  • When you turn over in your sleep, the pain wakes you up.

  • When you raise your arms, such as when washing your hair, it hurts.

Are any of these familiar to you?

Let’s now look at an actual case.

A patient case

Mr. H (51 years old, five years in Thailand) came to our clinic complaining of shoulder pain that made it difficult for him to raise his arms, even to change his shirt, and he couldn’t swing his golf club like he wanted.

He endured the pain for about three weeks but came to J-CLINIC because he worried that the pain might affect his work and golf-playing.

We determined that Mr. H’s pain was caused by:

  • Age-induced degeneration of the shoulder-joint area

  • Reduced ligament flexibility

  • Inflammation of the shoulder-joint

shoulder-joint

In addition, fatigue had accumulated on Mr. H’s shoulders from golfing every weekend.

Because Mr. H wasn’t in the habit of exercising other than playing golf, his abdominal muscles were weak and his body was stiff. Mr. H also commuted two hours every day by car. The long hours of sitting pressured Mr. H’s lower body and disrupted his body balance.

Given the causes, J-CLINIC’s treatment for Mr. H comprised:

  1. Massage to relax muscle tension

  2. High-voltage electric therapy for pain relief

  3. Motion & manipulation therapy to improve his range of motion

  4. Rehabilitation

  5. Advice on stretching and other exercises

▼ Watch our root cause treatments

For the first three weeks while the pain was strong, Mr. H came to J-CLINIC twice a week for treatment. Once the pain subsided, he also started stretches and strength-building in parallel with treatment to prevent the pain from recurring.

Thanks to the treatment, Mr. H recovered to the point that he could resume golf.

If you delay treating your frozen shoulder for too long, however, symptoms may worsen and affect not only your work and hobbies but also daily life activities such as getting dressed and washing your hair.

We thus recommend you get an early evaluation if you suffer from frozen shoulder.

And when once you start treatment, don’t stop just because the pain is gone. Be patient and continue with treatment until your frozen shoulder is completely cured.

If you suffer from frozen shoulder in Bangkok, we invite you to get in touch with us by phone, contact form, Facebook.

J-CLINIC for treatment of sciatica in Bangkok

Hello, this is Sato from J-CLINIC, a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic.

In this post, I’m going to talk about treating sciatica.

What is a sciatica?

Sciatica is a type of neuralgia, or pain along a nerve, caused by an aggravation of the sciatic nerve.

A woman who feels pain from sciatica is holding the back of her thigh
Sciatica can have many causes, including lumbar disc herniation, spinal canal stenosis, and piriformis syndrome.

The main symptoms are pain and numbness that radiate from the buttocks to the back of the thighs, knees, calves, and toes. Some people may experience leg cramps.

A patient case

Mr. S (male, 50 years old) lives in Bangkok. He frequently travels for overseas business trips. Mr. S tried to lift a heavy bag during one of these trips and experienced a strong pain that ran from his left buttock to his toes.

Businessman with a heavy suitcase
When he came to J-CLINIC, even sitting still hurt the back of his thigh.

Our treatments for sciatica

Manual therapy

Our therapists massaged Mr. S’s right leg muscle, which had become stiff from the effort to shield the painful left side, and the back muscle, which had been strained from long-distance travels and desk work.

High-voltage electric therapy

We used our high-voltage electric therapy machine to ease the pain in Mr. S’s left buttock.

Postoperative rehabilitation of sciatica

We showed Mr. S how to better stand and walk.

In his case, Mr. S can help prevent sciatica from recurring by being aware of his own “left-heaviness” and by getting regular physical maintenance.

If you suffer from a sciatica in Bangkok, we invite you to contact us by phone, email, or Facebook.
